It is better to be in the middle of somewhere, than the middle of nowhere. Something I learned from my 6 year old grandson today. So, here we go with a grandmother story.
Everyone knows what it is like travelling with small children. Right?? The questions, "Are we there yet? How much farther? Can we stop and get something to eat?", seem to be endless. I try to answer all of the questions and pacify as much as possible, however it is not always the information they desire.
Today, my husband and I were driving two of our grandchildren home. My grandson kept asking the usual questions, which I tried to answer. However he didn't like my responses because they were not what he wanted to hear. (That we had arrived at our destination.) Finally, he said. "Oh my goodness, are we in the middle of nowhere?" I laughed and agreed we probably were in the middle of nowhere. Actually, we were between towns and there was only countryside. As we neared the spot where we merged onto the interstate, we could see businesses and quite a bit more traffic. He exclaimed. " Yea!!! We are finally somewhere!!" Again, I laughed and said, "Yes, now we are in the middle of somewhere." (Still not at our destination, though) So I had to ask, "Is this better to be in the middle of somewhere, than the middle of nowhere?"
His response..... "Yes Mimi, it is always better to be in the middle of somewhere."
Love the way he thinks.
